What is Speedglas TrueView?
The 3M Speedglas 9100XXi welding helmet and Speedglas 9002NC welding helmet both feature ‘True-View’ welding vision. But what exactly is Speedglas True-View vision?
Traditionally, what you see through a welding lens appears green. This occurs because the auto-darkening welding lens blocks UltraViolet (blue light) and InfraRed (red light) radiation. By reflecting the blue and red components of light the welder is left to view their welds through a greenish haze.
True-View technology allows welders to see welds in more detail than ever before by allowing a wider and more consistent spectrum of colours to pass through the lens (more red/blue and less green), while blocking harmful UV/IR radiation.
Allowing a wider colour spectrum to pass through the lens means that colours and contours can be more readily recognised, allowing you to see the difference when setting-up, welding, grinding and inspecting just-completed welds. Increased visibility allows for greater control over the weld pool, meaning consistently higher quality welds.
Watch Aussie Welders React to TrueView Welding Helmets
However, there is one major issue with True-View and that's the inability to do it justice through the written word. So instead, we thought we'd let some Aussie welders try it out and tell us what they think. See the video below.
Speedglas 9100XXi with True-View
The Speedglas 9100XXi series welding lens with True-View gives you the largest viewing area on the market when combined with peripheral SideWindows. That means an extra-large 73x107mm lens with exceptional optical clarity and the ability to see previously hidden peripheral hazards. The Speedglas 9100 series features a range of different helmet options, with options including flip-front grinding visors, safety helmets and Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR).
You can also experience legendary True-View vision using the new Speedglas 9002NC. The 9002NC welding helmet features the same classic, slim Speedglas 9000 design that welders love – but with an upgraded large True-View welding lens. Due to its popularity and global success, the Speedglas 9002NC has been reduced in price to make it even more affordable for Australian & New Zealand welders.
