Has your shop been holding off upgrading to the new Speedglas G5-01 because you’re still holding stock of Speedglas FX Air spare parts? Fear not. The Speedglas G5-01 and Speedglas 9100 FX Air share the same core spare parts. This makes the switch even easier to manage from a spare part perspective.
How do the parts compare?
Below is a side-by-side comparison of the key spares needed to preserve a G5-01 and 9100 FX Air respectively. As you can see, they have plenty of consumables in common:
Even though the 9100XXi and G5-01VC welding lenses have differently sized viewing areas, both helmets use the same inside and outside cover lenses. In fact, as far as cover lenses go, the only discrepancy is in grinding visors - with the G5-01 visor being larger at 170 x 104mm.
Also notable is how the filters for the Adflo PAPR are exactly the same, whether for a standard Adflo or the heavy-duty respirator that comes with the G5-01. This ensures there aren’t complications or added expenses for a workplace where welders are using different Speedglas respiratory helmets.
So how do I upgrade?
For current Adflo PAPR users, the easiest and most economical way to upgrade to a Speedglas G5-01 is to purchase the Upgrade Kit (headtop and lens) to attach to your existing respirator!
For welders who are new to Speedglas, purchasing the complete G5-01 helmet with Adflo PAPR lets you step up your heavy-duty welding game with industry-leading features.
What’s more, now might well be the perfect time to upgrade! Throughout March and April of 2020, a whole host of Australian and New Zealand distributors are running some huge promotions on the G5-01 upgrade kit (part no. 611130) – you can find out more about what’s on offer right here.
