3M™ Speedglas™ 9002NC - Keeping you cooler, more comfortable and giving you greater control over your welds

Article By: Australian Welding Supplies (AWS)

Coming into the hotter months, day by day, welders’ working conditions are becoming increasingly more uncomfortable. However, just because welding is hot and sometimes uncomfortable, it doesn’t mean your welding helmet needs to be.

The new 3M™ Speedglas™ 9002NC features exhaust vents which assist in the removal of warm exhaled air, keeping the welder cooler and the welding lens fog-free. For welders who keep their helmets in the down position for prolonged periods of time, the build-up of carbon dioxide and humidity is greatly reduced. Users feel more comfortable, energetic and clear headed all day long and a fog-free lens allows increased control and visibility over their weld.

These revolutionary exhaust vents also allow the narrow profile welding helmet to comfortably sit closer to the welder’s face making it perfect for welding in tighter spaces. Its lightweight design (just 485 grams) and upgraded custom-fit head harness make the Speedglas 9002NC super comfortable.

Over twenty years ago, Speedglas launched the 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmet Series 9000 to protect welders against the many challenges they face while carrying out welding tasks. Worldwide, many welders still fondly remember the classic Speedglas™ 9000 model for its excellent balance, weight, size and shape. So, two decades later, the classic welding helmet profile that welder’s love has been upgraded and relaunched with high performing Speedglas TrueView optics and a new comfortable head harness design for all day welding.

The new 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmet 9002NC features new Speedglas True-View lens technology which gives welders the ability to see their welds better with a view that appears lighter, brighter and in more realistic colour. By allowing a wider colour spectrum to be visible through the lens, welders can read surfaces, contours and edges better and benefit from greater control over their welds.

The Speedglas 9002NC also gives welders greater control over their welds through its superior optical rating (1/1/1) and a large (55x107mm) auto-darkening filter. With shades 3/8-12 and arc detection down to an industry leading 1 amp, the 9002NC lens allows welders to perform a range of welding applications including low amp TIG welding with precision.

The new Speedglas 9002NC is also compliant with the relevant Australian & New Zealand standards and is suitable for MMAW, MIG/MAG, TIG and low amperage TIG.
